My make-up storage

These sorts of posts are becoming just about as generic as the "What's in my bag?" posts that we bloggers just seem to love. Probably because we are all ridiculously nosy people. Mine's coming with a slight difference though, as usually you'll see stacks and stacks of clear plastic boxes with ridiculous amounts of make up inside. I'm not one for spending a ton of money on make up, and really I have just a small bit more than the necessary. But, I thought I'd show you where it's all kept anyway, even if it is just to take pictures of the pretty boxes.

This is where it's all kept. It's a tiny, crappy, horrible vintage wood trolley that I bought some years ago when I lived in an even smaller house than I do now. I'm longing for a 1950s/60s atomic dressing table to call my own, but unfortunately until I have a cull of everything I own and make some space, this will have to do. Plus it holds quite a lot whilst not taking up a lot of space.

The top layer holds pretty much everything I use on a daily or almost daily basis. The jewellery box was my Grandma's and manages to hold all my old necklaces and earrings. I have a little wicker basket with hair brushes and spare make up brushes in, and then all the bottles are skincare and haircare I use pretty much every day. The box is actually an old sewing storage box but I find the little sections handy for keeping hair grips, safety pins, scissors, lip balms and a couple blushers. The bottom area also has some essential things inside.

The second part is more about storing bits I only occasionally need. My Samsonite case is one of my favourite things, I'd wanted one for so long before I got this and I definitely wouldn't be without it. It's a train case from around the 1960s, and comes with a handy little tray that sits near the top, which helps me keep all different make up bits stored together. The tray lifts off and you can bung in all sorts of different things, where I keep most of my body butters and other moisturisers. The turquoise and gold box is a little thing I got off my Mum years ago, and that just has random bits which don't really belong anywhere else inside, including a couple palettes and some lip balms. The Glossybox boxes have the majority  my nail polishes slightly organized inside one and nail art pens inside the other.

It's all a bit of a mess, and half the time I don't know where a certain thing is, but I really love my little boxes and wouldn't ever trade them for clear organized plastic trays. What do you think? How do you store all your beauty products? xo.

  1. I love this make-up storage it's really quirky and different, but I know how you feel about longing for a dressing table. I really like how you've used the sewing box as storage, nothing beats old mixed with new xxx

  2. What a refreshing change from the usual clear plastic containers! Mine is kept in a dresser but I'm afraid it's literally just dumped in the drawers! I really should make an effort to organise it but at the minute I'm trying to have a big clear out so hopefully we can get rid of the dresser to put a cot in it's place!Rx

  6. I love that colourful jewellery box that was your Grandma's. My make-up collection is really small, I only buy what I need when I've run out of something and it's stored in a wooden cutlery tray in the top drawer of my dressing table. x

  8. I like this kind of post, I love seeing how people do storage. Most of my posts like this are jewellery storage rather than makeup though. My makeup is in a variety of bags, and the stuff I am now using more frequently is on the bathroom window sill in chinese green tea cup type things.

  10. Wow, you've got to clean off your round brush haha!! That thing is FULL of hair! But I love the little trolley you have your makeup stored in and all of the little bins; seems a bit cumbersome to me but it looks cute :)
