2012 was a year when I really fell in love with make up, and spent more money on it than I probably ever had before. That said, it was really more a year of experimentation, finding different brands and products that I really liked or wasn't so impressed with. I found some make up bits that I found myself continuously reaching for throughout the year, and experimented in different skincare, although I think I'm still waiting to find that holy grail product or brand that really works amazingly well on my skin, which hopefully I will in 2013. Here are my favourite products throughout the year!
FACE: I discovered the Bourjois healthy mix foundation at the end of September and I've used it every day since. I really love the formula, and it just seems to sit nicely on my skin. Plus the ivory shade is perfect for me! You can read my review of it here. I also finally bought the Collection lasting perfection concealer after reading too many rave reviews. This is also a product I've worn every day since purchasing, I don't think I need to tell anyone just how good it is! The only skincare item on my list is the No7 Beautiful skin hot cloth cleanser, which I reviewed here. As I mentioned before, I've really been experimenting with skincare this year, and nothing has majorly impressed me other than this and the scrub from the beautiful skin range. I bought a few blushers this year but by Sleek's Rose gold is by far the one I always keep coming back to.
HAIR: I've only included the one item here as it's the only thing I know I'll keep repurchasing until I find something better. The Vo5 Moisture Soak Elixir has become a seriously well known product in the blogging world, and is a before shampoo treatment which leaves my hair feeling so soft and nourished. My other favourites not pictured include the Vo5 smoothing creme which I did a mini review on one of my Sunday pamper features.
EYES: This year I discovered MUA and bought a couple of their eyeshadow palettes. Since then I have used the Heaven and Earth palette almost every day. I also discovered gel eyeliner after getting one in a Glossybox, and I've not used liquid since. You can see my review of the Collection one here. I also bought the Maybelline the falsies mascara despite reading some terrible reviews, but it's definitely been my favourite mascara of the year.
BRUSHES: Like most of us, I fell deeply in love with the Real techniques brushes this year. I have the Core Collection and the eye Starter set, and have featured the buffing, contour, crease, and all over shadow brushes. In 2013 I'm dying to get my hands on the rest, especially the blush and setting brush.
POLISHES: Nail polishes have definitely been one of my most bought things this year. In Summer Barry M's peach melba was by far my favourite, and in Autumn and Winter I continuously used 'Hampstead Heath' by Nails Inc. My favourite all year around shade is 'My Fair Lady' by Ciate which is a beautiful light nude and can be worn in many ways.
BODY: Again, I've only featured one product as I love quite a few and couldn't really pick a favourite, but you can guarantee if it's Lush or Soap & Glory, I'm going to love it. The Righteous Butter is something I know I'll always love to use and has been one of my favourites this year, but I can't say I wouldn't buy a newer line from the Soap and Glory range next year just to try bits out when this runs out.
LIPS: I'm always buying a wearing new lipsticks, and as well as the Revlon just bitten kissable balm stains (review here) I was impressed with a lot of other lip products this year. Other favourite include the Kate Moss Rimmel range and Benefit's Cha Cha Tint.
If you've reached the end of this, well done! I'm really looking forward to discovering more make up and skincare products next year and hopefully finding a few new holy grail's! I've read a few of these posts already but I love them and can always discover new products from them, so if you've got a favourite of 2012 post, please leave me the link below! Happy new year!
