lush the hair doctor: £6.75
After delving into the world of Lush skincare some months ago and being ever so pleasantly surprised, I thought it was about time I experimented with their haircare range. The Hair Doctor is my first trial, a fresh hair mask which claims to be perfect for anyone with damaged hair, or if you suffer with itchy, flaky scalps. I've never really had any problems with the latter, but my hair was feeling especially dry after it's latest dye so this seemed like a good product to try.
As I don't have any scalp problems, I've only been applying this to the ends of my hair where it needs a bit more help. The instructions are to leave it on for twenty minutes, but I've left it on for a few hours before with my hair wrapped in cling film. It's easy to wash out, and then shampoo and condition as normal. When I'm done and my hair is dry, it feels.. different. It doesn't feel ridiculously smooth like most of the hair masks on the market do (I have a theory that they trick you into thinking they work by making your hair really soft, but don't actually ever improve the condition), but it feels thicker, and healthier. It's difficult to explain because it's hair, but it just feels better. The shine is there, it's not as fly-away, and it doesn't feel as thin and dry.
The only downside to this product is the smell. It's not horrendous, but it does smell a bit 'herby' like quite a few of the Lush products do. It doesn't disappear until the next time you wash your hair either, but it's only once every so often I'll get a good whiff of it. Also it's a fresh product, so it might not last too long, and depending on how much hair you have to cover, you might only get 1-2 uses out of a pot, which could make it pretty pricey. I've used it twice already, and I could get another 1-2 uses by just putting it on my ends as I have been doing. I know I'll be trying more of the Lush hair treatments, but if none are any better, I'll definitely be coming back to this! Have you tried any of the Lush hair products?
